At Corporación María Perlaza, we believe that education is a powerful tool to transform lives and open paths of hope. The story of Ana Dominga Paja, an Indigenous Misak woman, is an inspiring example of how knowledge, love for the community, and commitment to culture can change realities.
From Silvia to Cali: A Journey with Purpose
Ana Dominga arrived in Cali from Silvia, Cauca, with the dream of advancing academically and creating better opportunities for her son. What began as a personal aspiration soon became a mission that now benefits her community and the environment around her.
Education and Cultural Roots
While pursuing a Physical Therapy degree at Universidad Santiago de Cali, Ana Dominga has not left behind her identity or her roots. On the contrary, they have become a foundation for her journey.
At Corporación María Perlaza, she teaches the Misac dialect to children in our talent programs, promoting bilingualism and fostering appreciation for Guambiana culture. With every lesson, she strengthens cultural identity and encourages respect for diversity.
Commitment to the Environment
Her leadership also extends to environmental protection. Ana Dominga coordinates sustainability projects at the Corporación, instilling values of care and responsibility toward the planet in new generations. Her example reminds us that education goes beyond books—it is also about responsibility and action for our environment.

Recognition for Ancestral Medicine
Ana Dominga’s effort and excellence have been recognized. Her research on traditional medicine earned an award from Universidad Santiago de Cali, highlighting how ancestral knowledge can be integrated with science to offer a broader, more human approach to health.
A Future that Inspires
Ana Dominga is a mother, student, leader, and teacher. Her life is a reminder that education not only transforms those who receive it but also the families and communities that benefit from that knowledge.
At Corporación María Perlaza, we are proud to walk alongside stories like hers and to create spaces where every person can reach their full potential.
