I have been connected to the Corporation for many years, ever since I was a student at Liceo Benalcázar. We used to come to the Corporation to bring Christmas gifts. My mom also went to Liceo Benalcázar. She worked for many years in the community store, which at that time we called “El Pulguero.”
I returned to the Corporation around 2018, invited by Esperanza, and because I saw the opportunity to give back to my community. I started by teaching Excel classes to the teachers and to some of the members of the Board of Directors. From that Excel course, we organized the database and created a basic but very important tool that allowed the Corporation to carry out its donor management work month by month. For the past 3 or 4 years, I have been part of the Board of Directors, and every month I continue supporting the review of donor management with the commercial area.
What motivated you to be part of the Corporación María Perlaza?
I think there were several aspects. The first was knowing that behind the Corporación María Perlaza there was someone like Esperanza, who has given the Corporation such an invaluable service to our vulnerable people in this region. A transparency and a peace of mind that what is being done here is the best possible and the most valuable. And also that I had the time to help others.
What has been the greatest learning experience you’ve had at the Corporation?
Wow... Everything that we can give and contribute to our community. The Corporation’s capacity for innovation is, in my opinion, truly world-class. I thought, for example, that during the pandemic the María Perlaza school might fade a bit, maybe lower its guard. But instead, starting from the pandemic, today the Corporation’s reach is 180º broader than it was before. And they are constantly looking for what else they can do, what else they can contribute, what additional value they can bring to these children and to the entire community they impact.
Do you have a message for your fellow Liceo Benalcázar alumnae?
I would like to tell the entire Liceo Benalcázar community to come closer to the Corporation, so that everything I am sharing about what the Corporation is, they can live and experience for themselves. That way, they can also contribute with the peace of mind and certainty that everything done and delivered at the Corporation is applied for the benefit of our children and the whole community. It is time to give back to life what it has given us, and with very little, we can achieve a lot.
